Family Involvement

There are many ways to participate as a family  at CBE, both through the many creative services offered, such as the Ruach Shabbat and the Tot Shabbat services and offerings through the school.

Grade Level Family Education Programs include a variety of activities where families learn together.  Each grade holds at least one family education program a year.  Some examples of family education programs are Kindergartners learning with their families about nighttime rituals, including saying the Shema, and create a special pillow cover. Third grade families explore the creation story through art, acting and much more!  “Challah-Day” a long running and sweet program in grade one where parents and students learn the secrets to challah making and make their own challah cover.   A special Tu B’shvat Program for fourth grade.  And a second grade program to make a family Havdalah box (just a few weeks before they lead their own Havdalah service).  In addition, the 6th grade families come together four times during the year with the rabbi for the B’nai Mitzvah Family Class.

We encourage other unique ways for our families to enhance their Jewish experience as a family. Families in grade two and above are encouraged to participate together in our annual Purim Shpiel. The Shpiel is a long term project which has families working together which culminates in the premier performances at CBE! Families are encouraged to work together on our annual menorah contest. Various social action programs give families the opportunity to act as a family together, which helps to cement the idea that Tikum Olam (Helping to put the world back together) is a a core Jewish value.
